The coastal morning air was crisp and heavenly, as I began my day with a walk through Armstrong Woods. As I walked, I noticed my mind begin to wander. I felt at peace among the redwoods and forest floor greenery. When I walk through these woods, a few major trains of thought roll through my mind, and each time I’m there, they seem to sink in just a little bit deeper. I think about how the redwoods have a whole system of shallow underground roots. How they can’t stand alone for very long, but how they can last hundreds of years when they stand together with their roots systems intertwined. I think about how they are so connected, that above ground they appear separate but below ground they are really one. Then I think about how we are all one, and I don’t feel alone, but instead feel connected, and in quite good company!
